I have a "Healthrider" exerciser and I want to learn more about heart rate training. Best

I have an older %26quot;Healthrider%26quot; (Healthrider.com) , and I want to find the best book to explain heart rate training. Also, any advice about monitors would be appreciated. The Healthrider doesn%26#039;t have any elecronics, so I%26#039;ll be buying a monitor I can wear. I%26#039;ve looked at all the Oregon Scientific models, and the ones that speak seem like a good idea. Do you think they are a good idea or just a good marketing idea? It%26#039;s very likely that I will only be using the monitor on this machine, as I don%26#039;t do any running or other outdoor training (other than walking).

I%26#039;m a complete novice about this subject.

There%26#039;s alot of factors you failed to mention. Age. Weight. Health history.
