Has anyone else noticed that upon awakening from an afternoon nap your heart rate rises alot when yo

My resting heart rate is 67. I often nap in the early afternoon on weekends. I feel asleep with my heart rate monitor on and when I awakened and stood up to go in the kitchen I noticed my heart rate was 128 bpm. It went down slowly as I moved about to 110 bpm but stayed slightly elevated for about an hour.

Has anyone else noticed that upon awakening from an afternoon nap your heart rate rises alot when your stand?

When you immediatly stand up after a period of sitting or laying down, your blood and your heart adjust to that position. The blood circulates in that fashion where the gravity is pulling from your back. So when you stand up, some people often feel dizzy or hazy immediatly upon standing up because of the immediate drop in blood pressure when you stand up. It happens because the heart is not used to that position so the blood falls to your feet. It usually gets better after a few seconds. So basically your heart is speeding up to get blood to your head and to your upper body.

Your heart rate always goes up after a rest period. Do just sit up in bed first before walking around to speed up the heart rate slowly.
