Heart Rate 60 in morning, 100 during day?

My heart rate first thing in the morning right after waking up is in the 60%26#039;s bpm. When I check it during the day (even when resting on the couch) it%26#039;s between 95-100 bpm. What makes it go up so much?

Obviously, it%26#039;s okay. I%26#039;ve had multiple blood tests, worn heart monitors, %26amp; seen cardiologists. So I know I%26#039;m fine, but just wondering the reason.

Do you drink a lot of beverages that have caffeine in them? When I drank a lot of coffee, my heart rate would act that way. I would be sitting down and my pulse would be 80. I would stand up and it would shoot up to 130, because I had been drinking coffee. Once I was careful to avoid anything with caffeine in it, my pulse went down and stayed down.

My doctor didn%26#039;t have an explanation, either. The answer came from a co-worker with a similar problem.

Exercise and quit smoking. If you are in shape, (not just slim, but ripped) you%26#039;ll be fine. My regular BPM is 44 and it is so low it does not register at Wal-Mart! MY heart also functions so well that my strenuous activity heart rate is 58 BPM. I%26#039;m pretty intense.

This is extremely normal, and it actually means that you are quite healthy. When you wake up in the morning your body is coming out of its resting state, when you sleep your breathing, heart rate, and some of your brain function slows down by a large amount. When you first wake up you feel lethargic for that reason, your heart rate shuld be pretty low. For your resting heart rate to be around 60 means that you are healthy and that your heart is strong. During the day your heart rate will be higher for the fact that your body has much more going on and everything is working a little harder and faster. Basicly, when your asleep your body is in a anabolic state, slowed down while it fixes tissue and repairs itself. When your awake your body needs more oxygen since it is in a catabolic state, which means you need more oxygen and to get more oxygen you breath and pump blood faster.
