High resting heart rate- What should it be when active?

I know that a normal resting heart rate is between 60-100bpm. Mine is on the high side, usually anywhere from 90-100bpm. During the day, when I%26#039;m walking to classes and just generally walking around my house, it gets to about 120bmp, sometimes even 130bpm. Is this okay?

I have been to the cardiologist. He said my heart sounded fine. I%26#039;ve had 3 EKG%26#039;s done, all turned out normal (just fast). I%26#039;ve had a thyroid test; it was normal. I%26#039;ve had a complete blood test, everything was normal. My cardiologist had me wear a heart monitor for 24 hrs and I got some additional blood work done. I%26#039;m still waiting on those results. But I can%26#039;t stop worrying.

Its primarily the pattern that matters, not necessarily the rate. I assume the patern is normal, ie sinus rhythm, or your doc probably would have seen a problem on the ecg. So if you have a high rate while in sinus rhythm its generally considered normal. What I would pay attention to is ...

Are you out of shape, poor cardiovascular fitness can lead to a higher resting heart rate.

Are you a high stress person, anxiety can lead to chronically elevated catecholamine levels.

Are you a smoker, or take a lot of caffeine.

Then other medical causes which are less likely, ie anemia, thyroid issues, ...

If a doctor said it was fine then i would just listen to him...averages are just a good range to be in: it doesn%26#039;t mean that its necessarily right for you

Everyone is different, but after the number of tests that you have had done, I%26#039;d say this is just normal for you. No sense worrying about something that%26#039;s not going to hurt you or change. My heart rate is also about the same as yours and I have never had any problems.
