Are heart rate monitors worth the investment (For jogging and weight loss)?

Has anyone tried Oregon Scientific?

I like using heart rate monitors, it helps me with my pacing. I%26#039;m not a big endurance activity fan. So running or biking with a heart rate monitor makes sure I%26#039;m not working too hard, but it also keeps me from not working enough.

I dunno the first thing, sorry...would this be a monitor for a heart condition? If it is then I would say yes...

My friend uses one, he finds it to be a great motivator. Because then his goal is to do better then he did the last time, not to do better then someone else.

I get almost daily reports on it.

Based on his attitude, it is worth it.

He has a Timex one, he bought at Wal-Mart a few years ago.

Heart monitors are easy way to find what effort you are making to improve your heart and lung capacity.

In order to get benefits of exercises one needs raise his/hers like follows:

Fitness Zone (Fat Burning) --- 60 - 70% of maximum heart rate.

Aerobic Zone (Endurance Training) --- 70 - 80% of maximum heart rate. The aerobic zone will improve your cardiovascular and respiratory system AND increase the size and strength of your heart. This is the preferred zone if you are training for an endurance event. The maximum heart rate for healthy person is equals 220 - age. It is recommended to consult your doctor before starting exercises. You can check your heart rate manually with the wrist watch or clock with seconds hand, measure how many beat u get per 10 seconds and multiply by 6.
