I was wondering if anyone had a good idea of what the +/- of the read out of your heart rate on the monitors connected with the cardio machines. I know for the calorie read out you should take anywhere from 10 - 15% off the total.
Accuracy of heart rate read out on monitors connected to cardio machines?
Hi: The accuracy of the heart rate moniters on exercise machines can vary alot. The best way to tell your heart rate is to use a heart rate monitor that has a strap around your chest. They are available at sports stores. Also you can take you heart rate at your carotid artery, located on the side of your neck. Count the number of beats in 15 seconds and times it by 4. You can look at a clock near you. That will give you your # of beats per minute. That is the most accurate way.Take care
