What is the best (affordable) Heart Rate Monitor for competitive cyclists?

The best - Suunto.

The best (real World and affordable) - Polar.

Forget the others.

I%26#039;d go for Polar - there is a big range, and from the cheapest to the most expensive they do all the essential heart monitoring stuff to the same high standard.

With PC linking capabilities, you may need to spend a bit more... Polar is good, Nike and Trek make a few. Check Specialized also. They are all about the same, it just depends on how many options you want.

VDO makes a good model. Timex has one as well. You don%26#039;t necessarily have to get the latest model for it to be effective for you. You should be able to find last year models on line for under $150.

Polar is considered to be the standard for HRM%26#039;s. Garmin makes a GPS/HRM for ~$199 that allows you to load the data to your PC. (Slightly above your price range but has the added bonus of GPS.) Nike %26amp; Timex also make HRM%26#039;s for under $150.00; neither offers the upload option in your price range.

Good Luck!

I would suggest the POLAR S-150, the S-210,the Sigma Sport FIT WATCH or the CATEYE HR2000W. check the COLORADO CYCLIST website ( www.coloradocyclist.com).
